TNM Super League returnees Karonga United have embarked on a hunt for a head coach, with Civil Sporting\u2019s assistant mentor, Oscar Kaunda, and Fish Eagles\u2019 Head coach, Christopher Nyambose, as leading candidates.
\nKaronga\u2019s current Head Coach, Dave Muyombe, is underqualified as per Football Association of Malawi\u2019s (Fam) Club Licensing requirements of a minimum Caf B licence for a Super League Coach.
\nThe team\u2019s Chairperson, Alufeyo Chipanga, said he has received numerous applications for the post.
\n\u201cWe have already started talking to them and it is up to them to decide on whether they are interested [in the job] or not. I believe they are the right choices for us. We need to finalise the matter as soon as we can so that we commence preparations for the Super League in good time,\u201d Chipanga said.
\nHe said his team would like to have five players with Super League experience to add depth to the current squad.
\nChipanga further said the Crocodiles are contemplating luring back their former players Hygiene Mwandepeka and Maneno Nyoni from Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets, respectively.
\nThe two defenders joined the giants at the start of this season following Karonga\u2019s relegation from the elite league.
\nBut they have both struggled to break into the starting line-ups at their respective teams.
\n\u201cIf their current clubs will allow them to leave, they will surely be most welcome. Their experience can have a huge bearing on our return to the Super League,\u201d Chipanga added.
\nKaunda was in charge of the lakeshore-based side towards the end of last season, but was unable to save it from relegation.
