Be Forward Wanderers duo of Jabulani Linje and Precious Msosa are expected to return to Malawi from Japan on Thursday next week after failing to secure deals in the J-League.
\nLinje and Msosa left the country for the Asian island nation a fortnight ago for trails with various clubs, courtesy of Wanderers sponsor, Be Forward.
\nLinje said their chances of signing for any club in that country are slim as teams have gone on off-season break.
\nLinje said, despite visiting several clubs in Japan, they have only managed to train with just one team that plays for a competitive league.
\nHe said they arrived in Japan one week before the off-season break and they have since been advised to return home.
\nLinje said officials have asked them to return to Japan next month when the clubs will have commenced pre-season training.
\n\u201cThe country\u2019s season was going towards the end when we arrived. We only managed to train with just one team that had a game to finish the season. The rest of the teams we trained with do not play in any league.
\n\u201cWe are coming back home next week but we are not sure if we will return [to Japan]. That will be up to officials hosting us here and Wanderers management to discuss. It could be tricky because Wanderers will be competing in the Caf Champions League next year,\u201d Linje said.
\nWanderers Chairperson, Gift Mkandawire, said he is yet to link up with Be Forward officials in Japan on developments surrounding the two players.
\nMkandawire said it is important for the team to have players in Japan as it is one of the ways of strengthening ties between the two sides.
\n\u201cThe tour was not just about the players signing deals with clubs there, but also interacting with our counterparts in Japan,\u201d Mkandawire said.
\nEarlier this year, the Nomads\u2019 Captain Joseph Kamwendo and seasoned striker Peter Wadabwa also went to Japan but returned home after discovering that the country\u2019s teams were on off-season break.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
