{"id":57046,"date":"2017-12-02T07:11:58","date_gmt":"2017-12-02T05:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=57046"},"modified":"2017-12-02T07:11:59","modified_gmt":"2017-12-02T05:11:59","slug":"netball-clubs-cry-for-help","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/12\/02\/netball-clubs-cry-for-help\/","title":{"rendered":"Netball clubs cry for help"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Southern Region netball giants Tigresses, Thunder Queens and Serenity Stars have sounded an alarm as they risk missing the Presidential Netball Cup set for Mzuzu next week.<\/p>\n<p>The three self-sponsored sides have budgeted K1.2 million each for the trip.<\/p>\n<p>Each team risks a fine of K200,000 fine and an unspecified ban if they do not show up for the four-day competition.<\/p>\n<p>The teams have been caught off-balance due to the extended netball calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Tigresses Coach, Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa, said they were keeping their fingers crossed on the availability of money for the trip.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs members of the technical panel, we are courting some people and organisations to assist us. We are only hopeful that some will come to help us,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Serenity Stars Chairperson, Dalitso Chinyama, said there were fears that they might not travel to Mzuzu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have come to a point of [deciding] whether the team should travel with eight or 10 players and one official. Otherwise, the consequences are dire if we fail to travel,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Thunder Queens Coach, Christina Mkwanda- Nsinji, appealed for financial support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRunning a team without sponsorship is not easy. We are hoping for a miracle.
