On Christmas morning, m’gaiwa porridge would be divorced from the dining table and in its stead mum’s pleasingly prepared cakes would take its place. Mum cheated us; it was not all about Christ, so we came to realise, it was her birthday as well. We conspired against her and made it a triple; we changed our birthdays to December 25. That way, we would all seven of us be assured of a party.

I am old now with disdain for pleasure and fun. And I am going for the kill this Christmas. You want to join in? It is not a bring-a-bottle party, it is bring-a- gadget party. And here is the wish list.

If you can, iPhone X would be desirable. This is for my TNM 4.5G network SIM card. I adore its all-grass construction. Grass is brittle, no matter the hype; a reminder that life is tender. It is beautiful; a reminder that life is nirvana.

For my 4G Airtel number, Samsung Galaxy S8 will do. The infinity display on the Galaxy S8 is a gift from God. The near-zero bezel-less finish redefined the smartphone. It is an iPhone X without gorilla glass at the back and one with less glitzy price tag.

With unreliable power grid, I need a laptop that can last longer from a single charge; my eyes can’t get off Microsoft Surface. It has an excellent battery life and runs Windows S with online Office Suite and it is internet eccentric.

I am not a TV kind of a person. Give me a good book and I am at home. Samsung Frame TV is about to change all that; it displays artwork when you are not watching anything. Samsung says that Frame TV is the most beautiful TV you have never seen; as the name suggests, it resembles a picture frame on a wall. It comes in three flavours 43, 55 and 65-Inch and wears $1,299.99, $1, 999.99 and $2,999.99 price tags.

Dual SIM OnePlus 5 is cheap enough yet packs power. Here is its resume: launched in June 2017, 5.5-Inch display, generous 8 GB RAM, big 3,300 mAh battery, just 153 grams, Gorilla glass display protection, Android 7.1.1 (Nougat), powerful 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip and bountiful 128 GB storage.

And all that is just for less than half what iPhone X costs ($475). And one more thing, it is can accommodate both TNM and Airtel SIM cards simultaneously.

Samsung Galaxy Note is actually Samsung Galaxy S8 with a stylus. I love a stylus, it lets me use my signature ‘font’. I won’t mind it for a Christmas gift.

Being trendy these days means a tech watch on the wrist. Give me Apple Watch 3 and my heart will be glad. This beautiful watch is now of age and can make calls on its own without having to consult mother iPhone.

I don’t care whether a TV is curved or 55-inches; a TV must be crisp clear, the rest are flowers. LG 55 inch OLED TV fits that bill.

When you are my age, exercise is no longer a luxury. Garmin Vivo smart tracker goes further than just monitoring kilojoules burnt but measures stress levels as well. For sightseeing, the German technology Coboc One Soho e-bike would be preferred.

Growing up, Christmas was quiet a spectacular event.
