The Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has rescheduled Blue Eagles\u2019 matches in the TNM Super League to allow the team to participate in this year\u2019s Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Co-operation Organisation (Sarpcco) Games in Swaziland<\/p>\n
The ninth edition of the Sarppco Games will be held from July 22 to August 4.<\/p>\n
Malawi Police Service is expected to send a total of 81 athletes including Eagles FC and Blue Eagles Sisters to participate in the games.<\/p>\n
The Malawi delegation is expected to depart for Swaziland on July 19.<\/p>\n
In an interview on Wednesday, Sulom spokesperson Tiya Somba- Banda said Eagles matches have been rearranged to give them a chance to participate in the games.<\/p>\n
This means Eagles will finish the first round against Kamuzu Barracks on Wednesday at Civo Stadium, just three days before they depart for Swaziland.<\/p>\n
But it remains unclear if their Carlsberg Cup game against Mafco scheduled for July 18 would be rearranged.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe took that into consideration and they will finish their games before they leave. That will be just a week before the end of the first round,\u201d said Somba-Banda in a brief response.<\/p>\n
Recently, chairperson of the local organising committee, Richard Luhanga, said the preparations were at an advanced stage.<\/p>\n
During this year\u2019s event, Malawi is expected to feature athletes in netball, athletics, darts, chess and volleyball.<\/p>\n
Nine countries namely, DR Congo, Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Angola, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique and hosts Swaziland are expected to battle for honours.<\/p>\n
The Sarpcco Games are meant to create a platform for police officers from the region to engage in fruitful interaction, sharing ideas on policing traditions and fostering regional friendship through sport.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
