Malawi Defence Force (MDF) authorities finally cleared local featherweight champion Wilson Masamba to undergo intensive training in Zimbabwe ahead of the \u2018Knockout Malaria Malawi\u2019 bill.<\/p>\n
Masamba will face Brazilian boxer Cid Edson Bispo Riberio for the vacant World Boxing Union (WBU) belt in the main fight on September 26.<\/p>\n
The soldier will link up with compatriot Charles Misanjo at Zimbabwe\u2019s Delta Force Boxing Academy Masamba, in an interview on Sunday, said he was glad that MDF officials had released him.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt shows that my bosses are wishing me and the entire nation well. My reputation is at stake so is the pride of the nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
This is not the first time for Masamba to camp in Zimbabwe having trained there two months ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know the facilities are quite impressive and the conditions are also good. It\u2019s good that I will be training using good facilities to enhance my chances of doing well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Masamba arrived in Zimbabwe on Monday and immediately started his preparations.<\/p>\n
No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions managing director, Craig Rousseau, said they were partnering international counterparts to make the bill exciting and equip local boxers to win titles.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe international camp will empower our boxers with special techniques to give out the best,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
After the Zimbabwe training, both Masamba and Misanjo are also expected to travel to South Africa after Rousseau established ties with BRB Boxing Gym owned by Manny Fernandis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
