Revered Malawi National Netball Team Head Coach, Griffin Saenda, is making good progress in his recovery and is hoping to be ready for next year\u2019s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast City, Australia.
\nSaenda missed this year\u2019s Fast 5 Netball World Series in Melbourne, Australia, due to an illness that sidelined him for several months.
\nBut in an interview at his base, Blantyre Youth Centre, where he operates from as Regional Sports Development Officer (South), Saenda said he is in much better shape now.
\n\u201cIt felt bad to miss the game I love most because of sickness. But I am feeling better now. I was even finding it difficult to walk but I am reporting for duties now,\u201d the Kukoma Diamonds Head Coach said.
\nHowever, Saenda said he will take his time before returning to coaching as he still needs some time to recover fully.
\n\u201cI am not in a hurry to return to the technical area. I can only get back to coaching next year when we will be going to the Commonwealth Games. I expect to be ready for the Games,\u201d Saenda said.
\nNetball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, confirmed that Saenda is feeling better and said the association is looking forward to his return to the game.
\n \u201cSaenda is one of us. We missed his contribution to the game and we are happy with his recovery,\u201d Bapu said in a brief response.
\nIn Saenda\u2019s absence, his assistant, Sam Kanyenda was handed the role of guiding the Queens to the Fast 5 tournament.
\nBut the country\u2019s netball legend, Mary Waya, took over after Kanyenda walked out of camp in protest against Nam\u2019s decision to expel star shooter Mwawi Kumwenda from the squad.
\nWaya will continue in her role as the Queens begin preparations for three test matches in England this month end.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
