South African musician and producer, Cassper Nyovest, will arrive in the country on Saturday ahead of his performance on the same day at this year\u2019s Ovation Fusion Festival to be held in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
The last time the award-winning artist performed in the country was in 2015, when he came courtesy of Mango Entertainment.<\/p>\n
Ovation Advertising Agency Managing Partner, Chimwemwe Matonga, confirmed the development, saying Cassper would arrive on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cCassper arrives on the day of his performance on Saturday [November 11 2017]. Everything is set for the festival,\u201d Matonga said.<\/p>\n
He said Cassper will come with a five-member band.<\/p>\n
\u201cCassper is excited to perform in Malawi again. The fee for all the fun is K7, 500 per adult and K3, 000 per child or a two-day pass at K12, 000,\u201d Matonga said.<\/p>\n
Nyovest, real name Refiloe Maele, was in 2014 ranked number two on \u2018The Hottest MC in Africa\u2019 list by MTV Base.<\/p>\n
The rapper will be performing in the country fresh from being nominated in this year\u2019s Urban Music People (UMP) Awards in the newly introduced Best Sadc Act.<\/p>\n
Matonga said the festival would run for three days, from Friday to Sunday, at Umodzi Park of Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe focus of this year\u2019s festival is to provide an experience to alternative food choices beyond nsima. The culinary focus for this year is meant to contribute towards [efforts aimed at] scaling up nutrition and food security in the country,\u201d Matonga said.<\/p>\n
He said it was in this vein that they have partnered United Village Transformation (UVT) and the Culinary Diplomacy Programme (CDP), sponsored by Ethiopian Airlines, who are bringing to the festival Food Network celebrity chef Claudia Sansone, who will share six ways to prepare sweet potatoes during the festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased to announce the inaugural baking competition in Malawi. Following the preliminaries that took place in Blantyre and Lilongwe, we have nine finalists who will battle it out in the Bake Off Challenge right at the festival,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Matonga said the winner would walk away with K500,000 and a trophy, adding that, for the first time, the finalists would bake live in front of cameras and the audience.<\/p>\n
He said this year\u2019s festival would have engaging outdoor games such as volleyball, seven-a-side football, sharp-shooter, ground chess and play for a goat pool and a children\u2019s play area.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are pleased to provide a platform for our local artists to share the stage with the international acts \u2013 Cassper Nyovest from South Africa and Caitlin de Ville, a Zambian South Africa-based artist,\u201d Matonga said.<\/p>\n
The local acts set to share the stage with Nyovest\u2014 famed for songs such as \u2018Doc Shebeleza\u2019 and \u2018Gusheshe\u2019\u2014 are Patience Namadingo, Lulu, Faith Mussa, Hazel Mak, Tuno, Ambassadors of Love, Kuyenda Band, Music Crossroads Band, Bambino Girls Band and Kell Kay.<\/p>\n
There will also be poetry by Robert Chiwamba, Hudson Chamasowa, Julius Banda and Tadala Longwe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
