{"id":55808,"date":"2017-11-08T08:45:06","date_gmt":"2017-11-08T06:45:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=55808"},"modified":"2017-11-08T08:45:07","modified_gmt":"2017-11-08T06:45:07","slug":"grace-chingas-tombstone-to-be-unveiled-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/11\/08\/grace-chingas-tombstone-to-be-unveiled-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Grace Chinga\u2019s tombstone to be unveiled Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grace Chinga\u2019s tombstone will be unveiled on Saturday at HHI Cemetery in Blantyre, a family member has said.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased\u2019s brother, Davie, said Tuesday that all was set for the tombstone unveiling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to inform Malawians that the tombstone unveiling of my sister, Grace, is on Saturday at HHI Cemetery. We will start at 9am and by noon we will be through,\u201d Davie said.<\/p>\n<p>He said they would have done the tombstone unveiling in March, the month Grace passed on, but they were not ready.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t have enough money by then so we could not manage but now the tombstone is ready. We still miss our sister Grace. The tombstone unveiling will also be like a memorial,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Davie called on people to be part of the tombstone unveiling, indicating that there would also be performances by musicians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will have a service and performances by musicians. The service will be conducted close to where Grace was laid to rest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Grace died on March 17 last year.<\/p>\n<p>Born on June 28 1978, she is survived by three children\u2014 Miracle, Steve Spesho and Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Grace was no ordinary singer. She impressed many with her music and posthumously became one of the top recipients of Airtel Malawi ringtone royalties for the period 2013-2015, receiving over K1 million.<\/p>\n<p>She debuted with <em>Yekha <\/em>in 2002 which had the song \u2018Uleke\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>However, it was her second album, <em>Thandizo Langa, <\/em>which was released in 2005 that raised her profile, winning the hearts of many people.<\/p>\n<p>The gospel album features songs such as \u2018Kweza Maso\u2019, \u2018Delira\u2019, \u2018Getsemani\u2019, \u2018Sambi\u2019, \u2018Murena\u2019, \u2018Ndani Wamva Uthenga\u2019, \u2018Zioni\u2019, \u2018Zolengedwa Ziyimba\u2019 and \u2018Mtanda\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Her other album is <em>Ndizayimba Nyimbo <\/em>which features songs such as \u2018Korona.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The singer also left behind two albums, one titled <em>Esther <\/em>which was launched by her daughter Miracle.
