{"id":55751,"date":"2017-11-06T11:27:28","date_gmt":"2017-11-06T09:27:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=55751"},"modified":"2017-11-06T11:27:29","modified_gmt":"2017-11-06T09:27:29","slug":"shepherd-bushiri-starts-movement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/11\/06\/shepherd-bushiri-starts-movement\/","title":{"rendered":"Shepherd Bushiri starts movement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Controversial prophet Shepherd Bushiri on Saturday announced the formation of a movement called Malawi Forum to be run under the banner of his Church\u2014 Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) \u2014and promised to end power outages in 48 hours.<\/p>\n<p>However, the self-proclaimed prophet distanced himself from politics when he was asked whether he would use the movement as a springboard to his political ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not standing for the presidency; like I said before, I am greater and smatter than politics and I think Malawi deserves love and not politics,\u201d Bushiri said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not partisan but patriotic. I love my country and it is on the basis of the same love for my country that I am being persecuted for doing good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bushiri, who claims to be very rich, further said he has the capacity and money to end blackouts in Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf given a chance, I can end the blackouts in 48 hours,\u201d he said, adding: \u201cl have the capacity and by now we would not be having such problems because the money needed is not a lot of money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bushiri is no stranger to controversy. He caused a stir last year when he appeared to walk on air in a video. He again released another video, showing angles in his church as he preached.<\/p>\n<p>During the event in South Africa, Bushiri also announced that he has set aside over K370,000,000 (ZAR 7,000,000) for Malawians in diaspora to access loans through the movement.<\/p>\n<p>He lashed out at politicians, saying they have failed to rule Malawi \u201cand the country does not need them\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He said that he is on a path to transform Malawi and asked people to hold hands to achieve his goal, which is to transform the Malawi economy, and allow those who migrated to return home and invest in various sectors.<\/p>\n<p>He said that Malawi needs the right people to execute right plans to transform the economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Malawi, lies come forth and spread faster than the truth and people that can help the country are failing to do so because they are being accused of things they never did.
