{"id":55662,"date":"2017-11-04T12:20:45","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T10:20:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=55662"},"modified":"2017-11-04T12:20:45","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T10:20:45","slug":"kamuzu-barrackss-game-postponed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/11\/04\/kamuzu-barrackss-game-postponed\/","title":{"rendered":"Kamuzu Barracks\u2019s game postponed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The death of 18 soldiers in Thursday\u2019s road accident in Mzimba has led to the cancellation of a Fisd Challenge Cup game between Kamuzu Barracks (KB) and Azam Tigers.<\/p>\n<p>The quarter-final match was scheduled for Civo Stadium in Lilongwe today.<\/p>\n<p>Football Association of Malawi (Fam) acting Competitions Manager, Casper Jangale, said the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) had excused themselves from the game involving their team, KB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have told us that the funeral service will take place at KB, hence the game has been shifted to a later date,\u201d Jangale said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Some 35 soldiers were involved in the accident at Luwawa. Unconfirmed reports suggest that some of the injured soldiers are footballers.<\/p>\n<p>MDF publicist, Paul Chiphwanya, on Thursday said he needed to verify the identities of the injured soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released yesterday, Fam General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, said the cancellation was made \u201cto enable all football fans and supporters to stand in solidarity with the MDF family and Kamuzu Barracks FC as the country mourns our departed brothers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tigers Technical Director, Robin Alufandika, yesterday also confirmed the cancellation of the game.<\/p>\n<p>In another quarter-final match, Masters Security are at home against Premier Division\u2019s Dedza Young Soccer today.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, Blue Eagles welcome Nyasa Big Bullets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The death of 18 soldiers in Thursday\u2019s road accident in Mzimba has led to the cancellation of a Fisd Challenge Cup game between Kamuzu Barracks (KB) and Azam Tigers.
