Silver Strikers have described their first loss of the season in the TNM Super League as a wake-up call.<\/p>\n
The Central Bankers lost 1-0 to Red Lions at Balaka Stadium on Sunday when Chimwemwe Chidati scored for the soldiers.<\/p>\n
Silver Team Manager, Francis Songo, said the players were becoming complacent.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is about attitude and poor approach. We saw it coming and we knew that, one day, we would meet our match. We were getting carried away and, sometimes, the players could win games without playing [well],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe loss is a wake-up call for us. If we want to win the league, we must be consistent and win more games.\u201d<\/p>\n
Silver also drew 1-1 against Blantyre United at Chilomoni Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday.<\/p>\n
It was Silver\u2019s ninth league draw of the season.<\/p>\n
Nonetheless, Songo said the loss to Lions was water under the bridge for the eight-time champions, who last won the league title in 2013.<\/p>\n
Silver defender Yinusa Sheriff said he was failing to come to terms with the loss.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do not understand what happened. It was just a simple mistake. We will come back stronger,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Following the loss, Silver descended from second position to position three with 46 points from 23 games, eight points behind leaders Be Forward Wanderers.<\/p>\n
