{"id":5482,"date":"2015-07-07T08:53:25","date_gmt":"2015-07-07T08:53:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=5482"},"modified":"2015-07-07T08:53:25","modified_gmt":"2015-07-07T08:53:25","slug":"piksys-mthunzi-album-launch-fails-to-pull-crowd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/07\/07\/piksys-mthunzi-album-launch-fails-to-pull-crowd\/","title":{"rendered":"Piksy\u2019s \u2018Mthunzi\u2019 album launch fails to pull crowd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite incorporating notable urban artists such as Dan Lu, Blak Jak, Third Eye, Young Kay, just to mention a few, musician Piksy failed to pull a huge crowd to his <em>Mthunzi <\/em>album launch at Robin\u2019s Park in Blantyre on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>A few people patronised the show which also saw Zambian artist Chimzie Kellie famed for the hit \u2018Malonda ndi kumbuyo,\u2019 performing.<\/p>\n<p>The poor turnout however, did not keep away Piksy from offering the best for the day backed by his Langwani Movement Band and coming on stage later on, he did not dish out all the songs in the 16- track album.<\/p>\n<p>The album which was recorded in several studios features other artists including Mwanache, Maskal, Gwamba, and Barry One.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the songs Piksy performed include \u2018Tsoka Liyenda,\u2019 which was originally done by Robert Gwirani and \u2018Mthunzi\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The former Airtel Malawi ambassador played it low saying much as he would have loved to have a bigger audience, he was satisfied with the few people who showed up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did not expect that people will show up the way they did because people were alerted about it on a short notice. It was supposed to take place in March but I later postponed it to this day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Piksy argued that he was satisfied with the way people had received the newly released album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe album has been received well on the market because my first CD went at K50 000 and the title track of the album <em>Mthunzi <\/em>is being loved by people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless Pisky said that he was going to launch his album in all districts across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPiksy is going to go around everywhere in the country promoting this album and selling the CDs so that the message should be spread across all people anywhere they are,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>One of the supporting artists at the show, Dan Lu said he was so happy with the way people came to support Piksy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a good album and I like the song <em>Mthunzi. <\/em>I thank those people who have showed up just to support Piksy and I\u2019m asking all Malawians to buy this album,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mthunzi <\/em>is Piksy\u2019s second album after he launched his solo career in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The album is basically tackling issues that affect people and yet people are so afraid to bring them to the limelight.<\/p>\n<p>Other artists who spiced up the launch include promising female artist Sangie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite incorporating notable urban artists such as Dan Lu, Blak Jak, Third Eye, Young Kay, just to mention a few, musician Piksy failed to pull a huge crowd to his Mthunzi album launch at Robin\u2019s Park in Blantyre on Saturday.
