{"id":54627,"date":"2017-10-06T08:33:26","date_gmt":"2017-10-06T06:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=54627"},"modified":"2017-10-06T08:33:27","modified_gmt":"2017-10-06T06:33:27","slug":"ladies-volleyball-targets-grass-roots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/10\/06\/ladies-volleyball-targets-grass-roots\/","title":{"rendered":"Ladies volleyball targets grass roots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of female volleyball players want to concentrate on grassroots volleyball, after being impressed with the success of a recent invitational tournament played in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day tournament threw off at Blantyre Youth Centre on Saturday followed by the finals at College of Medicine Sports Complex the following day.<\/p>\n<p>The tournment\u2019s Organising Committee\u2019s Publicity Secretary, Shupikai Nyirenda, said they want to focus on the youth after being impressed by their performance during the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tournament went on well and it saw a Standard Eight pupil from Moyale become MVP [Most Valuable Player] and also an up-and-coming player of the tournament,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Nyirenda said the tournament, which they organised with funding from well-wishers, gave the ladies\u2019 teams a chance to assess their form ahead of a national tournament set for next month.<\/p>\n<p>During the tournament, Moyale Barracks stunned Kamuzu Barracks to emerge champions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A group of female volleyball players want to concentrate on grassroots volleyball, after being impressed with the success of a recent invitational tournament played in Blantyre.
