{"id":54567,"date":"2017-10-05T08:19:56","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T06:19:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=54567"},"modified":"2017-10-05T08:19:58","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T06:19:58","slug":"matthews-sibale-mphatso-philimon-lead-in-scoring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/10\/05\/matthews-sibale-mphatso-philimon-lead-in-scoring\/","title":{"rendered":"Matthews Sibale, Mphatso Philimon lead in scoring"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>D<\/strong>espite that Silver Strikers have not won in three consecutive TNM Super League games, their striker Matthews Sibale is proving to be a prolific scorer.<\/p>\n<p>Sibale once again came to the rescue of Silver in Sunday\u2019s 1-1 draw against Dwangwa United at Chitowe Ground, to take his tally to 10 goals.<\/p>\n<p>Sibale also scored in the previous 1-0 win over Premier Bet Wizards and in a 1-1 draw against Masters Security FC.<\/p>\n<p>The burly striker is now the league\u2019s joint leading scorer with 10 goals from 19 games, at par with Mphatso Philimon of Blue Eagles.<\/p>\n<p>Previous leading scorer Luke Chima from Azam Tigers has eight goals, one goal ahead of Jack Chiona who scored for Dwangwa from the penalty spot on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Wizards\u2019 Mischeck Botomani and Raphael Phiri of Civil Sporting Club have also seven goals followed on six goals by team-mates, Vincent Nyangulu, Joseph Kachule and Blantyre United\u2019s Jimmy Mbandambanda.<\/p>\n<p>Silver are winless in two games running.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, there is no Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 player in the top-five bracket of the top scorers.<\/p>\n<p>This decade, no Super League player has scored 20 goals, a factor attributed to lack of proper development of strikers and a long-ball game that render creative midfielders irrelevant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite that Silver Strikers have not won in three consecutive TNM Super League games, their striker Matthews Sibale is proving to be a prolific scorer.
