Malawi National Football Team Captain, Limbikani Mzava, has said focus and hard-work are the ingredients that his team, Golden Arrows, needs to maintain its great form in the South African Absa Premier Soccer League.<\/p>\n
Arrows had been at the summit of the log table until last Saturday when Robin Ngalande\u2019s Baroka FC leapfrogged them with a shock 2-1 win over giants Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.<\/p>\n
A win against Chippa United on Saturday would have seen Arrows continuing to boss the league but a 1-1 draw saw them drop to second with 13 points from seven matches, two behind Baroka.<\/p>\n
Mzava said his team was in the same situation last season and needs to avoid slipping further.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also started last season on a high but we just lost it along the way. This season, we seem to be going down the same path. We need to put our foot on the gas pedal and see what God will do for us at the end of the season,\u201d Mzava said.<\/p>\n
He attributed the team\u2019s promising performance to factors such as a deep squad, a positive mindset among the team\u2019s stakeholders and players\u2019 respect for the technical panel.<\/p>\n
Arrows are the only club with a Malawian player that is doing well in the league, with Gabadinho Mhango and Gerald Phiri Jnr\u2019s Bidvest Wits and Robert Ng\u2019ambi\u2019s Platinum Stars in the bottom two with five and two, points each, respectively, from seven games apiece.<\/p>\n
Striker Atusaye Nyondo and assistant coach John Maduka\u2019s Bloemfontein Celtic are seventh, having collected nine points from six games.<\/p>\n
