{"id":54470,"date":"2017-10-03T09:44:44","date_gmt":"2017-10-03T07:44:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=54470"},"modified":"2017-10-03T09:44:44","modified_gmt":"2017-10-03T07:44:44","slug":"egyptian-envoy-visits-times-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/10\/03\/egyptian-envoy-visits-times-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Egyptian envoy visits Times Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>E<\/strong>gyptian Ambassador to Malawi, Maher El- Adawy, has said cooperation among African countries is key to the development of the continent.<\/p>\n<p>El-Adawy made the remarks when he visited Times Group Head Offices in Blantyre Monday.<\/p>\n<p>But El-Adawy said, for Africa\u2014 which he described as the foundation of development\u2014 to develop, the media have to play their rightful role to champion cooperation of African countries. He said cooperation is the prerequisite for development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery country needs to have a base for development. In America, you can tell that this is the base of Democrats or Republicans. Africa remains a base for the development of all African nations. We can have connections outside but we must begin here, in Africa, and you, the media, have a big role to play,\u201d El-Adawy said.<\/p>\n<p>El-Adawy added that cordial relations between Malawi and Egypt are at their record best.<\/p>\n<p>He said Egypt has been supporting Malawi in many areas, including capacity-building, irrigation and food security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery year, we send a 300-member delegation to work in capacity building in many areas of development. We support the country in irrigation and food security and we have also been assisting the country in many ways as a bilateral partner and through the United Nations. If you want me to put it in one phrase, our relationship is in its best years,\u201d El-Adawy said.<\/p>\n<p>Times Group Editor-in- Chief, George Kasakula, said visits of high profile guests such as ambassadors mean that the company is doing a good job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor us, such visits mean that they see something good in us. They come to appreciate what we do; to encourage us and to tell us what we should improve on.
