{"id":54456,"date":"2017-10-03T09:19:50","date_gmt":"2017-10-03T07:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=54456"},"modified":"2017-10-03T09:19:54","modified_gmt":"2017-10-03T07:19:54","slug":"nomads-suspend-supporters-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/10\/03\/nomads-suspend-supporters-cut\/","title":{"rendered":"Nomads suspend supporters\u2019 cut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>S<\/strong>anity has finally prevailed at Be Forward Wanderers as the club\u2019s stakeholders yesterday reached an agreement to suspend the 12 percent gate collections cut which was being remitted to the team\u2019s Supporters Committee from every game.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was called for after the club\u2019s failure to pay game bonuses on several occasions, resulting in players boycotting training.<\/p>\n<p>The committee\u2019s General Secretary, Herbert Mapira, said they were concerned that the team was in debts that needed urgent attention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe, indeed, sat down as one family to look at the financial challenges our team is facing. In the end, we agreed to suspend our claim from the gate collections after appreciating our club\u2019s financial status,\u201d Mapira said.<\/p>\n<p>But he maintained that the supporters\u2019 backing down does not necessarily mean that the cut was not justified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a Supporters Committee, we need money to travel to our team\u2019s match venues in advance so that we organise other necessities. But we have accepted the suspension so that we put our players\u2019 welfare first,\u201d Mapira said.<\/p>\n<p>Wanderers Captain, Francis Mlimbika, hailed the fans for the gesture, saying it would help in their resolve to fight for the league title this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe face numerous financial challenges that require the club\u2019s attention. We believe that the move will help the club generate more money for our welfare as we focus on winning the league title.
