TNM Super League defending champions Kamuzu Barracks\u2019 woes went from bad to worse when they lost 3-0 to Nyasa Big Bullets at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe Sunday.<\/p>\n
It was KB\u2019s second consecutive defeat, having lost by a similar margin to Mzuni FC at the same venue last week.<\/p>\n
Veteran forward Chiukepo Msowoya netted a double and Emmanuel Zoya also scored for Bullets in the second-half.<\/p>\n
After a barren first-half, Msowoya opened the scoring after seven minutes when he headed into the net from a rebound after Nelson Kangunje\u2019s attempt had hit the post.<\/p>\n
Zoya added the second goal with a beautiful header from a Fischer Kondowe corner-kick after 21 minutes in the second-half.<\/p>\n
Then Msowoya completed his double with another fine header following Kondwani Kumwenda\u2019s free-kick.<\/p>\n
The defeat leaves the defending champions 22 points behind leaders Be Forward Wanderers, who got the better of Mafco 2-0 on Saturday.<\/p>\n
For now, KB\u2019s hopes of retaining the title are fast fading.<\/p>\n
But for Bullets, the win has revived their championship hopes as they trail Wanderers by six points having played a game more.<\/p>\n
Bullets drew 0-0 against Civil Sporting Club at the same venue on Saturday.<\/p>\n
In a post-match reaction, KB Head Coach, Billy Phambala, admitted that his side struggled to defend set-pieces.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe conceded all goals from headers and it is a concern for us. But the players did well, only that we lost track at some point,\u201d Phambala said.<\/p>\n
A visibly delighted Bullets Assistant Coach, Elia Kananji, patted his players on the back after the final whistle.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a great feeling to come back with four points from two games.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to continue winning games and we will see at the end,\u201d said Kananji whose side has won the Carlsberg Cup this season.<\/p>\n
At Chitowe Stadium, Silver took their tally to 39 points from 19 games after striker Matthews Sibale pulled the Bankers from the jaws of defeat with a late equaliser.<\/p>\n
Silver are still undefeated this season in the league but they are being let down by too many draws (nine) or 18 points dropped.<\/p>\n
Jack Chiwona had put the hosts ahead in the first-half. Dwangwa are now unbeaten in three consecutive games but they are still in the relegation zone with 19 points from 19 games and are placed third from bottom.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Premier Bet Wizards remain winless in the second-round after losing 1-0 to Mafco at Mulanje Park Stadium yesterday. Wizards remain fourth from bottom with 19 points from 19 games.<\/p>\n
Mafco, who scored through Emmanuel Chipeta, jumped from eight place to seventh with 28 points from 19 games.<\/p>\n
At Mzuzu Stadium, midfielder Lazarus Nyemela\u2019s first-half penalty handed Mzuni a 1-0 win over fifth-positioned Moyale Barracks, who have 31 points from 20 games. Mzuni are on ninth place with 26 points from 19 games.<\/p>\n
