Flames caretaker coach Ernest Mtawali says his troops cannot afford to spoil the country\u2019s Independence Day celebrations as the Malawi national football team lines up against Uganda\u2019s Cranes at Kamuzu Stadium this afternoon.<\/p>\n
Mtawali\u2019s intent to win the match has been clear from onset after some Super League teams sweated to have their players released for TNM Super League fixtures.<\/p>\n
The former Sundowns player knows that friendly matches unlike training matches matter and count a lot in football.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is nothing like a friendly match in football because whatever we do matters a lot. We just hope all the players will return without knocks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Most of the players that were involved in club versus country tussle managed to report back for national duties by yesterday morning before the final training session which was set for late afternoon.<\/p>\n
Mtawali was expected to assess his charges to check whether the players did not sustain knocks that might hamper their performance before the game.<\/p>\n
The former Under-20 coach has several players both experienced and youthful at his disposal and might be suffering selection headache.<\/p>\n
Big Bullets forward Chiukepo Msowoya, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers striker Muhammad Sulumba and Green Harawa of Silver Strikers would be fighting for a starting place.<\/p>\n
Blue Eagles duo Christopher John Banda and Micium Mhone are also expected to star for the Flames.<\/p>\n
Uganda would feature several Under-23 players as most of the senior payers were involved in Chan assignment against Tanzania which ended one-all.<\/p>\n
