{"id":54237,"date":"2017-09-27T15:18:16","date_gmt":"2017-09-27T13:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=54237"},"modified":"2017-09-27T15:18:17","modified_gmt":"2017-09-27T13:18:17","slug":"uladi-mussa-takes-on-joyce-banda-peoples-party-national-executive-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/09\/27\/uladi-mussa-takes-on-joyce-banda-peoples-party-national-executive-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Uladi Mussa takes on Joyce Banda, People\u2019s Party National Executive Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Suspended People\u2019s Party (PP) acting president, Uladi Mussa, has applied to the court to nullify resolutions made by the party\u2019s National Executive Committee (Nec).<\/p>\n<p>Mussa was suspended after he expressed interest in challenging the party\u2019s president Joyce Banda at the party\u2019s convention to be held later.<\/p>\n<p>In the application made to the High Court in Lilongwe, Mussa accuses Banda of \u201cillegally\u201d influencing other party members to hold a meeting on September 5, which resolved to temporarily remove him from the position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conduct of the First Respondent, Her Excellency Dr Joyce Banda, of instructing, authorising and sponsoring the second respondent Hon Ibrahim Matola to call for a meeting of selected members of the Management Committee or of the National Executive Committee and to preside over the said meeting was unconstitutional, unfair and unreasonable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe action and conduct of the second respondent Hon Ibrahim Matola to call for a meeting of selected members of the Management Committee or of the National Executive Committee and to preside over the said meeting was unlawful, unconstitutional, unfair and unreasonable,\u201d reads the application.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from Banda and Matola, other respondents in the application are Noah Chimpeni and Ralph Jooma.<\/p>\n<p>The court is expected to make the determination today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Suspended People\u2019s Party (PP) acting president, Uladi Mussa, has applied to the court to nullify resolutions made by the party\u2019s National Executive Committee (Nec).
