{"id":54127,"date":"2017-09-26T09:37:51","date_gmt":"2017-09-26T07:37:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=54127"},"modified":"2017-09-26T09:37:51","modified_gmt":"2017-09-26T07:37:51","slug":"malawi-duo-win-mozambique-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/09\/26\/malawi-duo-win-mozambique-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi duo win Mozambique title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi\u2019s Flames first-choice goalkeeper Charles Swini and midfielder Frank Banda won their first Mozambique top-flight league title with HCB Songo on Sunday when they thrashed Textafrica Chimoio 5-0.<\/p>\n<p>Songo, who finished on second place last season, have won the Mocambola League championship with 62 points from 28 games, 10 points above second-placed Costa do Sol where another Malawian Richard Mbulu plays.<\/p>\n<p>Costa do Sol drew one-all against Chibuto FC of Chawanangwa Kawonga also on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Banda, the former Silver Strikers midfielder, was delighted to have put the icing on the cake by scoring Songo\u2019s fifth goal in Tete.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt feels great to win the first title in Mozambique and it was a successful season for us. We did it in style with a victory and we hope we will do well next year,\u201d he said about Songo, who will participate in next year\u2019s Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>Ferroviario de Nampula, home to Flames\u2019 John Banda (younger brother to Frank), Ndaziona Chatsalira, Zicco Mkanda and Schumacher Kuwali, lost 1-0 to Desportivo Nacala to remain on position 11 with 33 points from 28 games.<\/p>\n<p>Chibuto are fifth with 42 points from the same number of games.
