T<\/strong>NM Super League leaders, Be Forward Wanderers, have some breathing space at the summit of the log table after making the most of Silver Strikers\u2019 slip-up to go three points clear Sunday.<\/p>\n

Wanderers, chasing their first league title in 10 years, squeezed Blantyre United further down into the relegation hole, beating them 2-0 at Chilomoni Stadium in Blantyre, courtesy of Esau Kanyenda and Harry Nyirenda\u2019s second-half goals.<\/p>\n

The Nomads took their tally to 41 points from 17 games, having played a game less than Silver, who have 38 points.<\/p>\n

After a goal-less first-half, Kanyenda scored with a header after connecting a corner-kick from Joseph Kamwendo in the 65th minute.<\/p>\n

Some eight minutes later, Kamwendo created the second goal from yet another corner-kick, which defender Nyirenda headed into the net.<\/p>\n

The goal came after Wanderers Coach, Yasin Osman, had substituted central midfielder Ernest Tambe for winger Felix Zulu. Eventually, Precious Msosa joined Kanyenda upfront after replacing Khumbo Ng\u2019ambi.<\/p>\n

United Coach, McDonald Mtetemera, substituted Jiddy Mbandambanda for Sparrow<\/p>\n

Msowoya but, by that time, the Nomads were unstoppable.<\/p>\n

In a post-match interview, Osman was the happier of the two coaches.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe struggled in the first-half, but we had to change formation to 4-3-3 and we got the goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe battle is still on, especially when your counterparts are playing somewhere and you do not know their performance. It is important for us to get maximum points,\u201d Osman said.<\/p>\n

As Wanderers celebrated in Blantyre, Silver were left scratching their heads after playing out to a 1-1 draw against hosts, Masters Security FC, who scored late through Francis Mkonda to cancel out Matthews Sibale\u2019s opener for the visitors.<\/p>\n

After the game, Silver Team Manager, Francis Songo, was disappointed with the dropped points whereas Masters Assistant Coach, Jabil Maliro, was naturally relieved.<\/p>\n

Songo sai d : \u201cWe l o s t concentration towards the end of the game. We are making life difficult for ourselves because we have made too many draws.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Mphatso Philemon scored the only goal as hosts Blue Eagles moved to fourth place on the log table with 31 points from 18 games after beating Mafco 1-0.<\/p>\n

Still in Lilongwe, Mzuni stunned defending champions Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 to leave the soldiers on 10th position with 22 points. Mzuni jumped to ninth place with 23 points from 18 games.<\/p>\n

At Mulanje Park Stadium, Premier Bet Wizards suffered their third consecutive league defeat after going down 1-0 to Dwangwa United, who scored through Jack Chiona.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
