{"id":54044,"date":"2017-09-25T08:30:18","date_gmt":"2017-09-25T06:30:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=54044"},"modified":"2017-09-25T08:30:18","modified_gmt":"2017-09-25T06:30:18","slug":"joseph-nkasa-gets-attention-in-zitherepano-4520-bash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/09\/25\/joseph-nkasa-gets-attention-in-zitherepano-4520-bash\/","title":{"rendered":"Joseph Nkasa gets attention in Zitherepano 45:20 Bash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>P<\/strong>hungu Joseph Nkasa proved that he is still popular and relevant in the country\u2019s music circles when he got the much needed attention during the three-day Zitherepano Club 45:20 Bash in Mangochi.<\/p>\n<p>Nkasa was on Friday\u2019s menu alongside Alleluya Band, featuring veterans in Coss Chiwalo and Paul Subiri, and popular reggae group Black Missionaries.<\/p>\n<p>Zitherepano organised the bash to celebrate 20 years of existence while its proprietor, Victoria Kingstone, has turned 45.<\/p>\n<p>There were actually fireworks during the first day, which pulled a huge audience, with the performances going all the way to the early hours of Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Nkasa performed in the early hours of Saturday soon after the audience had enjoyed Black Missionaries\u2019 reggae vibes.<\/p>\n<p>He received a huge applause upon his entry on stage, with some jumping on stage to embrace him.<\/p>\n<p>Backed by Alleluya Band, Nkasa, who has several albums to his credit, performed a few songs, some of which were requests from the audience before getting off stage.<\/p>\n<p>It was late, around 3am when he was jumping on stage but people waited for his performance<\/p>\n<p>He, however, still needs to perfect his stage work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZitherepano has been there offering us a venue and we celebrate with them. I am happy to be here and I am thankful to Zitherepano for considering me to be part of this bash,\u201d Nkasa said.<\/p>\n<p>He said he was happy to share the stage with other artists, adding that, through such meetings, they share ideas and learn from each other.<\/p>\n<p>Nkasa paved the way for Subiri, who also offered his songs.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier on, there were performances from Chiwalo, who reminded the audience of his past exploits, before Blacks took over the stage, entertaining people with songs from their <em>Kuimba <\/em>albums.<\/p>\n<p>However, Black Missionaries took a longtime to start their performance as they were still balancing the equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The sound was not razor-sharp on the night, although the audience enjoyed the performances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited, as Zitherepano, to celebrate 20 years. We will continue bringing out more and offer artists the platform. I am also excited to be honoured by Alleluya Band,\u201d Kingstone said.<\/p>\n<p>Blacks lead vocalist, Anjiru Fumulani, said this was a good platform, adding that it has been a longtime since they performed in Mangochi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a good outing and, as Blacks, we are happy to be part of the celebration. This is a good venue, which has supported us and we wish them all the best,\u201d Anjiru said.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony \u2018Mr Cool\u2019 Makondetsa, who also performed, hailed Zitherepano for organising the three-day bash.<\/p>\n<p>Chiwalo said they were happy to be invited to the bash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou may recall that we have just returned from Italy and Israel; so, we are happy to perform here in Mangochi,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The second day saw performances from, among others, Dan Lufani.<\/p>\n<p>The bash was expected to end Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Phungu Joseph Nkasa proved that he is still popular and relevant in the country\u2019s music circles when he got the much needed attention during the three-day Zitherepano Club 45:20 Bash in Mangochi.
