Despite some mistakes, I think we were able to cope with the challenge. I was particularly impressed with our performance against Zimbabwe. They are a strong team but took them head on and we salvaged a point,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mbolembole said, if the current team was maintained and kept active, then Malawi would win the regional showpiece after three years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I say maintain the side, I mean that we should have programmes to keep the team active. Our performance has given us hope that if we play strength testing games and [participate in] competitive tournaments, our standards will not be the same,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>National Women\u2019s Football Association Chairperson, Severia Chalira, said they were encouraged by the team\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will officially submit our recommendations to Fam to maintain the side,\u201d she said while singling out Temwa Chawinga\u2019s departure to Sweden as a window of opportunity for more local players.<\/p>\n<p>One of the teams\u2019 key players, Mayidna Nguluwe, hoped that the team would not be abandoned.
