Bidvest Wits\u2019 Malawian attacker, Gerald Phiri Jnr will wait a little longer before featuring for his South African club due to work-permit problems.<\/p>\n
Phiri returned to his parent club, Wits, after spending a season on loan at Platinum Stars, where he netted two goals from free-kicks.<\/p>\n
But the former Be Forward Wanderers and Caps United (Zimbabwe) exciting winger is yet to taste Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL) action this season.<\/p>\n
His South African Manager, Paul Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports Group, on Monday confirmed that Phiri Jnr was waiting for a work-permit.<\/p>\n
\u201cGerald had a problem with his passport, but all should be completed this week,\u201d Mitchell said.<\/p>\n
This season, the midfielder has been registered as a foreigner in the PSL.<\/p>\n
Last year, Phiri was registered as a local as his father has South African roots.<\/p>\n
Since joining Wits in 2015, Phiri had faced work permit hitches which kept him out of action for a year.<\/p>\n
Phiri, son to the Flames Assistant Coach, Gerald Phiri Senior, netted a brilliant free kick for Malawi in a 1-0 win over Comoros Islands at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.<\/p>\n
