The Chinese government has said it will soon start constructing community technical colleges in five districts in the country with the aim of improving skilled labour force in the country.<\/p>\n
Chinese Ambassador to Malawi, Shi-Ting Wang, made the announcement yesterday in Lilongwe during the signing ceremony of the implementation agreement for the project.<\/p>\n
Shi-Ting said Malawi needs high-standard technical colleges to boost the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n
He said manpower development holds the key to development and that the youth need professional and technical skills.<\/p>\n
\u201cMalawi lacks high-standard technical colleges to boost this field. As a result, demographic dividends in this country are not fully tapped to help Malawi achieve fast and stable growth. The crucial factor is that youth unemployment is much higher than the country\u2019s level,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
Minister of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development, Francis Kasaila, said the government of Malawi appreciates the support as it complements government\u2019s efforts in improving the education sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a fact that skilled citizens are a catalyst of social-economic development of a country. For Malawi to develop economically, we need to have adequate skilled labour force. I wish to thank the People\u2019s Republic of China for the timely support,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The colleges will be constructed in Ntcheu, Mulanje, Nsanje, Zomba and Mzimba districts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
