{"id":53742,"date":"2017-09-19T08:48:23","date_gmt":"2017-09-19T06:48:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=53742"},"modified":"2017-09-19T08:48:23","modified_gmt":"2017-09-19T06:48:23","slug":"erik-paliani-to-headline-urban-music-people-fashion-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/09\/19\/erik-paliani-to-headline-urban-music-people-fashion-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Erik Paliani to headline Urban Music People Fashion Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned singer, guitarist and producer, Erik Paliani, will headline this year\u2019s Urban Music People (UMP) Fashion Night to be held at Game stores Underground car park in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>Both the organisers and Paliani confirmed the development.<\/p>\n<p>Paliani, described by legendary Wambali Mkandawire as one of the talented artists the country has ever produced, on Saturday performed at Harry\u2019s Bar in Lilongwe with his jazz quartet.<\/p>\n<p>The artist, who has since set up a studio in Mchinji and is planning to a jazz education project, said he was excited to be part and parcel of the UMP Fashion show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to do more for the country and I would love to expand what is there already and part of this is through performances. It was a great show at Harry\u2019s Bar and, from there, we have another show at Grittah\u2019s on September 29 then UMP Fashion Awards on October 15,\u201d Paliani said.<\/p>\n<p>Paliani also said performing at the UMP Fashion Awards will accord him an opportunity to expand his fan base.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am excited to perform because I am on a mission to expand my targeted audience. This event hopefully allows me to introduce my musical brand to a wider and more youthful audience,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also assured of high quality performances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI try to give the best where I am capable of doing so. As a travelling musician, an artist faces different audiences, scenarios and settings all the time. For the past 15 years, I have performed for audiences that can\u2019t even translate my language.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut they somehow manage to translate my soul. I believe the same will be true at this event,\u201d Paliani said.<\/p>\n<p>He further underlined the importance of music and fashion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistorically, human, performances, shows, dances, carnivals, among others, have included outfits, costumes, make up. It is a given fact that music and fashion are related. I strongly endorse that simple ideology,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nde\u2019feyo Entertainment and Nzika Arts are the producers of UMP Awards and Festival.<\/p>\n<p>The UMP Fashion Night has been packaged with fashion show, fashion booths, UMP awards nominations announcement and party, music performance and media awards.<\/p>\n<p>The organisers have since released a list of fashion designers to showcase their designs at the event and these are: Kliff Culture, Vivietta, Christian Entwan, Armasi By Jessie and Terry Made Designs.<\/p>\n<p>After the UMP Fashion Night comes the UMP Awards and Festival set for Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe and Blantyre Sports Club on November 18 and 19, respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned singer, guitarist and producer, Erik Paliani, will headline this year\u2019s Urban Music People (UMP) Fashion Night to be held at Game stores Underground car park in Blantyre.
