{"id":53741,"date":"2017-09-19T08:55:55","date_gmt":"2017-09-19T06:55:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=53741"},"modified":"2017-09-19T08:55:57","modified_gmt":"2017-09-19T06:55:57","slug":"no-blue-mingoli-concert-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/09\/19\/no-blue-mingoli-concert-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"No Blue Mingoli concert this year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>T<\/strong>he Blue Mingoli concert organised by Standard Bank will not take place this year.<\/p>\n<p>Standard Bank has since confirmed the development, saying the Blue Mingoli concert, formerly known as Joy of Jazz will not be held this year.<\/p>\n<p>The bank\u2019s head of marketing, Thoko Unyolo, confirmed this in an email response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, we will not hold Blue Mingoli this year,\u201d Unyolo said.<\/p>\n<p>On why it is not taking place, Unyolo said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had to shelve some events (including the Blue Mingoli) to meet financial demands from change of the core banking system in 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She could not comment further on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>While the Blue Mingoli concert will not be on song this year, Stanbic Bank in Zambia announced earlier this year that Grammy award-winning R&amp;B group Boyz II Men, would be the main international headliner at this year\u2019s Stanbic Music Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Stanbic in Zambia seems to be serious with its festival as, last year, their festival was headlined by UB40.<\/p>\n<p>Last year the Blue Mingoli concert, held in November, was headlined by South Africa\u2019s singer Zonke.<\/p>\n<p>Zonke, real name Zonke Dikana, shared the stage with Patience Namadingo.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the international acts who have performed at the Blue Mingoli concert include South African artist Lira, who came face to face with Lulu, US Jazz maestro Earl Klugh and another South African artist Zahara.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Blue Mingoli concert organised by Standard Bank will not take place this year.
