M<\/strong>alawi Women\u2019s National Football Team fought back to salvage a three-all draw against favourites and hosts, Zimbabwe, in a Cosafa Championship qualifying match at Luveve Stadium Sunday.<\/p>\n

Malawi\u2019s She-Flames are out of the race having finished third in group A with four points, one point below second-placed Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

Zambia have finished on top with seven points, having thrashed Madagascar 7-1 in another match played yesterday.<\/p>\n

Malawi were hoping for a win and also praying that Zambia should lose against the bottom-placed Madagascar During the game, Zimbabwe deservedly went ahead through Rutendo Makore in the 22nd minute before adding her second in the 31st minute after capitalising on a defensive lapse.<\/p>\n

As for Malawi, all eyes were on Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa.<\/p>\n

But it was Temwa who reduced the arrears to give Malawi a life-line in the 37th minute.<\/p>\n

Malawi\u2019s razor-sharp frontline has been a source of joy whereas the jittery defence has been a concern, after letting in nine goals in the previous two games.<\/p>\n

After resumption, Makore completed her hat-trick in the 57th minute to restore Zimbabwe\u2019s two-goal cushion.<\/p>\n

But not to be outdone by her younger sister, the free-scoring Tabitha made her presence felt when she reduced the arrears in the 60th minute.<\/p>\n

The Sweden based forward claimed her brace and Malawi\u2019s third in the 89th minute, courtesy of Madyina Ngulube\u2019s assist.<\/p>\n
