{"id":53680,"date":"2017-09-18T09:26:13","date_gmt":"2017-09-18T07:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=53680"},"modified":"2017-09-18T09:26:14","modified_gmt":"2017-09-18T07:26:14","slug":"daliso-chaponda-comes-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/09\/18\/daliso-chaponda-comes-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Daliso Chaponda comes home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United Kingdom-based comedian Daliso Chaponda is expected to perform in the country in November.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso, who came third in this year\u2019s Britain\u2019s Got Talent, will perform at Victoria Gardens in Blantyre on November 24 and Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe on November 25.<\/p>\n<p>Qoncept Creatives\u2019 Creat ive Director, Q Malewezi, who is a renowned poet, confirmed the development on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, Daliso is coming for pe r formanc e s in November. We have the first show in Blantyre and then the second show in Lilongwe,\u201d Malewezi said.<\/p>\n<p>It is not the first time for Daliso to perform in the country but this is the first time since his impressive performance in this year\u2019s Britain\u2019s Got Talent.<\/p>\n<p>The comedian recently also came out to announce his first tour.<\/p>\n<p>The comedian said he was going full throttle with a tour titled \u2018What The African Said\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The stand-up comedian, son to former minister George Chaponda, has since been signed by CKP Productions and Road Global.<\/p>\n<p>CKP Productions and Roar Global is one of the biggest and agencies.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso is using his success in coming third in Britain\u2019s Got Talent show to launch a 31-date UK tour for next year.<\/p>\n<p>According to media reports, the tour also follows the commission of his first Radio 4 show, Citizen Of Nowhere, which will also air next year.<\/p>\n<p>The Malawian-born stand-up comedian is one of the biggest hits of this year\u2019s Britain\u2019s Got Talent, with clips of his appearances attracting more than 12 million views on YouTube.<\/p>\n<p>The stand-up comedian, who was recently featured on BBC Focus on Africa, was fast-tracked to the semi-finals when Amanda Holden used her \u2018golden buzzer\u2019 to put him through.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso is also a prolific fiction writer and co-created and starred in Radio 4\u2019s drama \u2018When the Laughter Stops\u2019 in 2014<\/p>\n<p>His tour will start on February 8 at Nottingham\u2019s Glee Club and end at Edinburgh\u2019s Queens Hall on April 27.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso, who was the guest during the Malawi Achievers Awards 2017, told <em>The Daily Times <\/em>recently that he would hold more shows and that he was looking forward to performing in Africa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>United Kingdom-based comedian Daliso Chaponda is expected to perform in the country in November.
