{"id":53368,"date":"2017-09-12T11:02:05","date_gmt":"2017-09-12T09:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=53368"},"modified":"2017-09-12T11:02:14","modified_gmt":"2017-09-12T09:02:14","slug":"4-more-die-in-road-accidents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/09\/12\/4-more-die-in-road-accidents\/","title":{"rendered":"4 more die in road accidents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>F<\/strong>our people have died in two road accidents which occurred in the Central Region on Sunday and Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Two people died in a bus accident which occurred at Mtakataka in Dedza Monday while the other two died on Sunday after a three-tonne lorry hit a bicycle taxi operator and his passenger on an earth road in Lilongwe District.<\/p>\n<p>Dedza Police spokesperson, Edward Kabango confirmed that two people died in an accident involving a bus belonging to National Bus Company, registration number BQ 3975.<\/p>\n<p>He said the bus was coming from Salima going towards Balaka and, when it reached Kambuku Village near Mtakataka Trading Centre, its rear tyres burst.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe driver lost control of the bus and it overturned. Two people, a man who is yet to be identified and a one-year-old boy, died on the spot. Eleven people sustained serious injuries and were referred to Dedza District Hospital. Thirty-two people survived with minor injuries,\u201d Kabango said.<\/p>\n<p>He identified the one-year -old as Leonard Miliyasi from Nthumbo Village, Traditional \u00a0Authority Ganya in Ntcheu.<\/p>\n<p>Kabango said the driver of the bus fled the scene of the accident and is at large.<\/p>\n<p>On the Lilongwe accident, police have arrested Patrick Chadza of Kamphanje Village, Traditional Authority Njolomole in Ntcheu for causing death of the bicycle taxi operator and his passenger on the Chitukula- Dzenza earth road.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased have been identified as Khalidwe Mark, 18 and Rajab White, 24.<\/p>\n<p>According Kanengo Police deputy spokesperson, Salome Chibwana, Chadza was driving a Toyota Dyna 3-tonne lorry, registration number DA 1015, from Chitukula Village going towards Dzenza.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe driver escaped from the scene of the accident and surrendered himself to police at Kanengo Police Station. He will appear in court to answer a charge of causing death through reckless driving under Section 126 (4) of the Road Traffic Act,\u201d Chibwana said.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, 16 people died in two accidents which occurred in Chiradzulu and Blantyre.
