He had a good sense of judgment. He knew when to come out of the goal-line to cut crosses.

Stanley Sanudi: Despite his diminutive height, the right-back frustrated towering Togo defenders. He consistently overlapped to add pressure upfront.

Limbikani Mzava: The Flames Captain commanded his line of defence with dexterity. He reduced Turkey-based Adebayor to a peripheral figure.

Dennis Chembezi: The lad with a lion’s heart partnered well with Mzava. On several occasions, he out-jumped towering Togo strikers to clear balls. He is proving to be a reliable centre-back.

Yamikani Fodya: He had difficulties in coping up with pressure from the speedy Togolese hunters. He was exposed in the first-half but picked up his game in the second-half.

Chikoti Chirwa: As a holding midfielder, he was the heart and soul of Malawi’s midfield. He was aggressive throughout the game and gave his opponents tough time. His prowess added stability to the back-four.

Robert Ng’ambi: The coach featured him in his rightful free-role with Chikoti doing the dirty work. He orchestrated a lot of moves from midfield.

Dalitso Sailesi: He left most of the Togolose wondering because of his deceiving tiny stature. He started the game slowly but later picked up with terrific speed and excellent dribbles. He lost a glorious opportunity after breaking through the Togolese defence.

Gabadinho Mhango: He did not play his usual game. He lost his cool and was involved in a bust up with Adebayor. He also misplaced some passes. He was substituted for John Banda.

Banda: His terrific runs on the left wing mounted pressure on the Togolese who started relying on counter attacks.

Gerlad Phiri junior: He had a lukewarm game unlike in the previous encounter against Morocco. But he picked up his game towards the end of the second-half.

Mbulu: He was consistently aggressive upfront. He scored Malawi’s lone goal from a well taken corner kick by Phiri junior.

Malawi National Football Team Coach, Ronny van Geneugden, has patted his charges on the back for their spirited performance as they beat Togo 1-0 in a strength testing match on Monday at Agadir Stadium in Morocco.
