Malawi National Football Team drew 1-1 against hosts Morocco Under-23 in a training match played Friday evening.<\/p>\n
The hosts\u2019 Boutduli Abdembunaij deflected the Flames\u2019 right-back Stanley Sanudi\u2019s power-packed shot into the net in the 66th minute.<\/p>\n
However, with the visitors showing signs of fatigue, Morocco equalised through Handurt Humza\u2019s diagonal shot from an acute angle in the 85th minute.<\/p>\n
The Flames scored after Coach, Ronny van Geneugden, had made attacking changes, substituting midfielder Robert Ng\u2019ambi and defender Peter Cholopi for Dalitso Sailesi and Chikoti Chirwa, respectively.<\/p>\n
However, Malawi could not preserve the lead.<\/p>\n
Yet, the start to the game was promising for the Flames.<\/p>\n
Malawi had the possession and penetration through strikers Gabadinho Mhango and Richard Mbulu but the final touch lacked.<\/p>\n
The Flames invited the visitors by playing too deep in a 4-4-2 formation with Ennessyri Yousef missing a scoring opportunity for Morocco in the first-half.<\/p>\n
Morocco threatened in the early stages, taking four shots on target against none for Malawi. Goalkeeper Charles Swini saved Yousef\u2019s free kick.<\/p>\n
Mhango eventually received a yellow card for a foul on his opponent. The first-half ended 0-0.<\/p>\n
When play resumed, the substitutions gave the Flames some life in attack.<\/p>\n
It was van Geneugden\u2019s eighth game in charge of the Flames, winning once, drawing four times and losing thrice.<\/p>\n
Malawi will also meet Togo on Monday in the final match of the training tour.<\/p>\n
Malawi and Morocco will meet next year in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.<\/p>\n
