{"id":52705,"date":"2017-08-31T08:00:27","date_gmt":"2017-08-31T06:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=52705"},"modified":"2017-08-31T08:00:27","modified_gmt":"2017-08-31T06:00:27","slug":"dusk-till-dawn-to-host-tay-grin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/08\/31\/dusk-till-dawn-to-host-tay-grin\/","title":{"rendered":"Dusk Till Dawn to host Tay Grin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dusk Till Dawn in Blantyre will tomorrow host hip-hop superstar Tay Grin\u2019s All Africa Music Awards (Afrima) nomination party.<\/p>\n<p>The party is part of celebrating his first Afrima nomination.<\/p>\n<p>The performances during the party will start midnight.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from Tay Grin\u2019s performance, other artists set to perform are Theo Thomson, Sonyezo, Tuno and DJ Nathan Tunes.<\/p>\n<p>Tay Grin has been nominated in the category of Best Male Artiste in Southern Africa for the song \u2018Tola\u2019 which features Tanzania\u2019s Vanessa Mdee.<\/p>\n<p>Tay Grin is competing with a number of South African artists like veteran Hugh Masekela, hip-hop artist AKA, Nasty C, Emtee and Nduduzo.<\/p>\n<p>Completing the line-up of nominees is Jay Prayzah from Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am calling on my fans to vote so that I can bring the award home. The party at Dusk Till Dawn is aimed at celebrating this nomination with my fans,\u201d Tay Grin said.<\/p>\n<p>He hailed people for the support that they have always given him in the country and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The HeForShe campaigner for UN Women has just returned from his tour of Iceland, South Africa, the United States of America and England.<\/p>\n<p>Tay Grin said his fans will be crucial this time around considering that artists with more votes will be eventual winners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a game of numbers and I believe my fans will see the need to vote so that Malawi should once again shine. What I achieve as an artist is good for the country because I have always strived to represent the country wherever I have travelled or performed,\u201d said the artist.<\/p>\n<p>Tay Grin is one of the most successful artists in the country, with a number of awards and collaborations with international artists.<\/p>\n<p>Among others, in 2009, he won Channel O\u2019s Best Collabo or Duo with the video \u2018My Type of Guy\u2019 which features Buffalo Souljah, Gal Level and DJ Waxxy.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014, Tay Grin won a Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts award for Best International African Act.<\/p>\n<p>Tay Grin has collaborated with Sway (UK), Brick &amp; Lace (Jamaica), Naeto C (Nigeria), Ice Prince (Nigeria) and 2face (Nigeria) among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dusk Till Dawn in Blantyre will tomorrow host hip-hop superstar Tay Grin\u2019s All Africa Music Awards (Afrima) nomination party.
