RED Lions Assistant Coach, Prichard Mwansa, has said referee Chidziwitso Simbi robbed them of victory when he awarded eventual 2-1 winners, Nyasa Big Bullets,\u00a0\u00a0 second half penalty in the Carlsberg Cup semi-final at BinguNational Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Soon after recess, Simbi awarded Bullets a penalty which Nelson Kangunje converted to level the scores after Loti Chawinga\u2019s opener. Chiukepo Msowoya grabbed Bullets\u2019 eventual winner.<\/p>\n
Chawinga was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty box. But in a postmatch interview, Mwansa said even if they write to Football Association of Malawi (Fam), nothing would change.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very certain that it was never a handball. Take your television cameras and show me. There is no reason why we should write a letter because nothing can change.<\/p>\n
I have played football for 15 years but I have never heard of a team being successful in their protest,\u201d Mwansa said.<\/p>\n
In football, a referee\u2019s decision is final. Fam Competitions Manager, Gomegzani Zakazaka, was reluctant to comment on Mwansa\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n
Zakazaka admitted that the final involving Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers would be a challenge to organise within two weeks.<\/p>\n
Bullets and Wanderers will meet in the Carlsberg Cup final for the second time in three years. The last time the two sides met was in 2015 when Wanderers won 2-1 at Civo Stadium.<\/p>\n
