{"id":5247,"date":"2015-07-02T09:31:03","date_gmt":"2015-07-02T09:31:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=5247"},"modified":"2015-07-02T09:31:03","modified_gmt":"2015-07-02T09:31:03","slug":"musician-painter-khuza-rampi-faces-katelele-in-double-launch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/07\/02\/musician-painter-khuza-rampi-faces-katelele-in-double-launch\/","title":{"rendered":"Musician, painter Khuza Rampi faces Katelele in double launch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blantyre-based artist Khuza Rampi will this Saturday take his artwork to New Village House in Blantyre where top of it all will be a double launch of his album titled Nyimbo.<\/p>\n<p>The launch will see Rampi who prides in sharing a stage with late Evison Matafale coming face to face with other musicians including Katelele Ching\u2019oma, veteran Giddes Chalamanda, Prince Yasin Jenala, Sid Muyaya and Matusa.<\/p>\n<p>His album Nyimbo was recorded at Ralph Records by Blessings Munyonga and has 10 songs.<\/p>\n<p>Rampi said he decided to launch a double because of the response he has received from the people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe response on the songs in my second album has been overwhelming.<\/p>\n<p>This is why I decided to go for a double. I just want to call upon people to come in large numbers to experience my live performance. It is even a good platform as we have a variety of musicians on board,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the songs people are expected to sample in his album include \u2018Chidebe,\u2019 \u2018Sikusinja ndi Gwenembe,\u2019 \u2018Musakadye Nokha,\u2019 and \u2018Kunchezo.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActually the DVD has bonus tracks including \u2018Ukadadziwa Siukadatero,\u2019 which I featured Khozie Masimbe and this songs is in my previous album. I will perform live with Super Boys Band and we have been having massive rehearsals,\u201d said the artist.<\/p>\n<p>Rampi seems to be taking his art seriously as having started with music; he has also expanded his ground and today also owns Atland Painters and Decorators which among others produces paper necklaces.<\/p>\n<p>He admits that his debut album <em>Nzafe Nzawole? <\/em>did not do well on the market but he attributes this to poor promotion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c I took my time working on these songs and I have loved composing them and I am hopeful that people will also love the songs and enjoy the message therein,\u201d said Khuza revealing that the songs are currently enjoying airplay in some of the local radio stations.<\/p>\n<p>With the music industry flooded by many upcoming musicians, Rampi says he is ready with his new album which saw him being in the studio for close to six months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am not stopping here, we will have more shows and actually I am looking at going for a countrywide tour with funds permitting,\u201d said Rampi who had a stint with Zomba based group Freedom Band.<\/p>\n<p>Currently working for Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre as a painter and decorator, the artist did painting and decoration at Soche Technical College.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Blantyre-based artist Khuza Rampi will this Saturday take his artwork to New Village House in Blantyre where top of it all will be a double launch of his album titled Nyimbo.
