The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has said it needs the support of Rotarians in the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n
The Bureau\u2019s Director General, Lucas Kondowe, made the remarks in Lilongwe at the weekend during the induction dinner for Rotarian Chris Kapenda as new president of Rotary Club of Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
\u201cCorruption affects all of us. It undermines the country\u2019s development. The fight against corruption requires a collaborative approach. It does not need spectators. All Malawians have to be in the field. We are looking forward to working with you in the fight against corruption,\u201d Kondowe said.<\/p>\n
Past president for the club, Rotarian Marshal Chilenga, promised to help in the fight.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are really living in a country where there is corruption. We don\u2019t want people to be in the terraces. As Rotarians, we believe in sticking to ethics in whatever we do, be it in our businesses. We will use various occupations we are in to fight corruption,\u201d Chilenga said.<\/p>\n
During the event, Rotarian Sophie Kalinde, who served as Rotary Club of Lilongwe president from last year, handed over the leadership of the club to Kapenda.<\/p>\n
The new president assured the club that they will continue doing the work started by Kalinde.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an extraordinary club. I\u2019m very confident that we have all we need to take the club into the future, to achieve more,\u201d Kapenda said.<\/p>\n
In her speech, Kalinde outlined some of the achievements of the club in the past year such as holding of a dental camp at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) and repairing fistula in 100 women.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
