{"id":52048,"date":"2017-08-21T08:54:11","date_gmt":"2017-08-21T06:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=52048"},"modified":"2017-08-21T08:54:11","modified_gmt":"2017-08-21T06:54:11","slug":"pilot-wins-total-golf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/08\/21\/pilot-wins-total-golf\/","title":{"rendered":"Pilot wins Total golf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>S<\/strong>olister Botha, Malawian Airlines Officer One Pilot, won Total Malawi Limited Golf Tournament played at Kasasa Golf Club in Dwangwa on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Playing off handicap 14, the Lilongwe-based Botha bagged 38 points in the highly competitive tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Kalusya Phiri, who scored 37 points, was the runner-up whereas Dan Mazoe grabbed third position with 36 points.<\/p>\n<p>Botha, who was on malaria treatment, said he was excited to register his first win in his career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDwangwa is my second home because it is where I won my first medal. To emerge the best among professional golfers is something I am not taking for granted,\u201d said Botha, who, coincidentally, received a return air ticket to South Africa as part of the prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Coombes got the nearest to the pin award whereas Bob Dambo scooped the longest drive accolade.<\/p>\n<p>In the ladies\u2019 category, Chimwemwe Chavula was all smiles when she won the championship after scoring 33 points.<\/p>\n<p>Second place went to Jochebed Mpanga who accumulated 32 points. Dwangwa-based Lusayo Sibale ended on third position after netting 29 points.<\/p>\n<p>Chavula said: \u201cToday\u2019s tournament was challenging as it was windy but after winning the tournament, I am excited. I dedicate this victory to my son who asked me to bring home the award.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Total Malawi Limited Managing Director, Aegidia Schnepp, said the tournament was part of interacting with their customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is one way of maintaining the relationship with our customers. We realise that it is the way of creating memories and friendliness.
