{"id":51910,"date":"2017-08-17T08:59:38","date_gmt":"2017-08-17T06:59:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=51910"},"modified":"2017-08-17T08:59:38","modified_gmt":"2017-08-17T06:59:38","slug":"medf-sffrfm-seal-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/08\/17\/medf-sffrfm-seal-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"Medf, SFFRFM seal partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>M<\/strong>alawi Enterprise Development Fund (Medf) and the Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) have entered into a partnership which seeks to provide loans to farmers to access farm inputs.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership will see Malawians doing agriculture on a commercial basis accessing loan facilities from Medf to buy inputs, such as fertilizer, from SFFRFM.<\/p>\n<p>Medf Chief Executive Officer, Mervis Mangulenje, said the initiative will help ease the financial pressure on farmers.<\/p>\n<p>Mangulenje said in the absence of an agriculture bank, the partnership will help provide the bridge between farmers and input providers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see this as a game changer in the agriculture sector as it will leave farmers with no excuse for not scaling up their production.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe if farmers take advantage of the facility, they should be able to take farming to the next level,\u201d Mangulenje said.<\/p>\n<p>SFFRFM Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Kalinde, said his firm is excited to partner Medf in the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>He said SFFRFM is ready to provide the required quantities to farmers to help them realise their dreams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is crucial in this partnership is the synergy.
