Initially, I was in touch with Silver Strikers Coach, Lovemore Fazili, but the Bullets supporters pressured me to come and play for the team.

“They bought me an air ticket and this is my second day at Bullets. I will see if I can sign a contract with them. Before going to South Africa, I was playing for Tsholotsholo FC back home in Zimbabwe,” he said.

Chawe can sign for Bullets outright if he is a free agent. During training yesterday, he looked quick on the turn and clever off the ball, but the class of a player is determined by consistency.

Kananji, speaking before Tuesday morning’s training session, said he would be tempted to ask management to sign Chawe.

“I played football and, with just a simple touch of the ball, I am able to know attributes of a good player. When I saw him touch the ball, it was like our prayers had been answered because, with Dalitso Sailesi gone [to Lusaka Dynamos], we are short of numbers on the left wing,” he said.

“It is very true that clubs in South Africa pay better and quality players sign for clubs in that country, but we understand that he wants to use Bullets as a springboard for bigger things in his career.”

Fazili Tuesday said it was Chawe who was in touch with him, hoping to sign for the TNM Super League leaders.

“There is no issue really. It is not like Silver were interested in him, but he got my contacts and we have been texting. He wanted to join us but I told him that, being a foreigner, it was not easy as the season is in progress,” Fazili said.

Zimbabwean sports journalist Enock Muchinjo Tuesday said Tsholotsholo are a top league side based in Matabeleland, but he was not aware of the winger’s profile.

Many Zimbabwean players are spread in countries such as Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Tanzania.
