{"id":51724,"date":"2017-08-14T11:06:03","date_gmt":"2017-08-14T09:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=51724"},"modified":"2017-08-14T11:06:03","modified_gmt":"2017-08-14T09:06:03","slug":"atupele-muluzi-denies-selling-udf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/08\/14\/atupele-muluzi-denies-selling-udf\/","title":{"rendered":"Atupele Muluzi denies selling UDF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amid political rallies that are happening across the country, leader of United Democratic Party (UDF), Atupele Muluzi, has refuted claims that that his party was sold and is no more.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a rally in Ndirande Township, Blantyre Sunday, Muluzi described his ministerial job in the Democratic Progressive Party-led government as his practising of civilised politics.<\/p>\n<p>The UDF leader, in his attempt to explain the point further, drew comparison with the United States\u2019 politics, alluding it was important to emulate such politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a new way of doing politics. You can lose an election but focus on nation-building and making sure people come together. We want civilised politics,\u201d Muluzi said.<\/p>\n<p>He further pleaded for understanding from his followers in the anticipation of welcoming old and new members.<\/p>\n<p>He welcomed back Clement Stambuli and Yusuf Mwawa into UDF.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many members that are coming to the party, they want to come back and make the party strong. It is important as a leader to welcome and recognise their contribution to the party and to the country,\u201d Muluzi said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the rally was one of many that he is set to hold across the country.<\/p>\n<p>UDF and DPP became bedfellows soon after the 2014 tripartite elections and President, Peter Mutharika, drafted into his first Cabinet the UDF leader<\/p>\n<p>Muluzi is Minister of Health and Population.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amid political rallies that are happening across the country, leader of United Democratic Party (UDF), Atupele Muluzi, has refuted claims that that his party was sold and is no more.
