{"id":51700,"date":"2017-08-14T10:20:05","date_gmt":"2017-08-14T08:20:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=51700"},"modified":"2017-08-14T10:20:06","modified_gmt":"2017-08-14T08:20:06","slug":"malawi-has-new-world-bank-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/08\/14\/malawi-has-new-world-bank-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi has new World Bank manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The World Bank has appointed Greg Toulmin as new country manager for Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>Toulmin, a British national, replaces Laura Kullenberg who completed her tour of duty at the end of July 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The bank said on Friday Toulmin will lead a diverse team that is supporting Malawi\u2019s development.<\/p>\n<p>The team will be developing and implementing a Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for the World Bank\u2019s engagement with Malawi for 2018 to 2021.<\/p>\n<p>A statement from the bank said Toulmin will coordinate the bank\u2019s engagement with the government, development partners and other key stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>The bank said Toulmin brings to Malawi a wealth of development knowledge and expertise with the World Bank since 1984.<\/p>\n<p>It further said the new boss has experience in both developed and developing countries, most recently having served as Country Programme Coordinator for Senegal, Mauritania, Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde.<\/p>\n<p>Toulmin said he is excited to work in Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI first came to Malawi 37 years ago. I am delighted to have the opportunity to return, and to have the chance to work with government as it leads the country\u2019s growth and development agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMalawi\u2019s recent progress towards macroeconomic stability opens the way for a renewed focus on transformation and growth, provided that recent progress can be sustained.
