Habitat for humanity has said there is need to support the elderly and children whose parents died to HIV\/ Aids with shelter in order to lessen challenges that they face.<\/p>\n
The organisation\u2019s Board Chairperson, Jallison Chaguluka, said shelter is a basic need that everyone including people affected with the pandemic needs.<\/p>\n
He made the remarks recently at the launch of the Gertrude Mutharika build initiative in the area of Traditional Authority (T\/A) Chadza in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
The initiative aims to fundraise for construction of houses for the vulnerable in various parts of the country.<\/p>\n
Chaguluka said, in T\/A Chadza, the organisation intends to build 12 houses to assist needy people of the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cHIV\/Aids has had a lot of impact and a number of children have been left behind with no one to take care of them in terms of housing. That is why we thought it is an area we can team up with government to assist the vulnerable to have good houses where they can live,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
First Lady, Gertrude Mutharika, who graced the occasion, commended Habitat for Humanity for the charity.<\/p>\n
