{"id":51307,"date":"2017-08-07T08:59:05","date_gmt":"2017-08-07T06:59:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=51307"},"modified":"2017-08-07T08:59:07","modified_gmt":"2017-08-07T06:59:07","slug":"tigresses-draw-in-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/08\/07\/tigresses-draw-in-opener\/","title":{"rendered":"Tigresses draw in opener"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Giants Tigresses started their campaign for the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League title on a rather scrappy note when they were forced to a 39-all draw by Prison Sisters at Blantyre Youth Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The giants also finished last in a four-member Kukoma Invitational Tournament played last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Tigresses have roped in youngsters to rebuild the side with centre Beatrice Mpinganjira and wing-defender Cathy Yikwanga among the few available senior players.<\/p>\n<p>Other senior players, including shooter Sindie Simtowe-Msowoya and Captain, Grace Mwafulirwa-Mhango, are unavailable due to several reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Prison Sisters Coach, Pemphero Ntalika, said it was a good start to their ambition of breaking into the top-four this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo seasons ago, we had a steady rise when we beat Thunder Queens. However, our progress suffered a setback but we are now on track. This draw has given us the confidence that we can do better this season,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tigresses Team Manager, Helene Mpinganjira-Tasosa, said their focus was on rebuilding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur mission is to give exposure to these players. We are starting from a scratch,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>In other games, Thunder Queens beat Young Professionals 115-8 whereas holders, Kukoma Diamonds defeated Chilomoni Sisters 83- 27.
