{"id":51304,"date":"2017-08-07T09:13:10","date_gmt":"2017-08-07T07:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=51304"},"modified":"2017-08-07T09:13:11","modified_gmt":"2017-08-07T07:13:11","slug":"civil-players-in-salary-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/08\/07\/civil-players-in-salary-boost\/","title":{"rendered":"Civil players in salary boost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>M<\/strong>anagement of Civil Sporting Club has, following a meeting held in Lilongwe over the weekend, put players on the government payroll, effective July 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the players were getting upkeeps and bonuses only, but now they will be getting salaries to motivate them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo far, we have about 21 contracts with the players. Most of them have running contracts from July 2017. However, the Treasurer General should use these contracts to determine the fixed monthly bills emanating from the contracts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is need to introduce them by latest August 7, 2017 [today]. These players will be at Grade K [in] as far as the government grading is concerned,\u201d reads part of the minutes from the recent meeting which T<em>he Daily Times <\/em>has seen.<\/p>\n<p>Civil Vice-General Secretary, Ronald Chiwaula, Sunday said he did not attend the weekend\u2019s meeting, but confirmed the decision to put the players on the government\u2019s payroll.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to the sponsor (Office of the President and Cabinet) for considering our proposal. Previously, we had problems paying the players but now all the players will be receiving their fixed salaries every month,\u201d Chiwaula said.<\/p>\n<p>Chiwaula said according to the proposal, OPC will be responsible for the salaries whereas the club will be paying game bonuses.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of last season, relegated Civo United players staged a vigil at the club\u2019s house due to unpaid upkeeps and game bonuses.<\/p>\n<p>Civil, who emerged from the remnants of Civo and Epac, started the season on a low but they have recovered. Before their match against Mzuni yesterday, Civil were on position four on the TNM Super League table with 20 points from 12 games.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Civil claimed a shock 3-0 victory over Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium with goals from Innocent Tanganyika, Joseph Kachule and Raphael Phiri.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Management of Civil Sporting Club has, following a meeting held in Lilongwe over the weekend, put players on the government payroll, effective July 2017.
