Moyale Barracks FC interim Coach, Charles Kamanga, says memories of their \u201cpainful\u201d exit in the Airtel Top 8 Cup are still fresh, and has vowed to claim the 2017 Carlsberg Cup to compensate for the loss.<\/p>\n
Kamanga was speaking after his side ousted Dwangwa United in the Carlsberg Cup round of 16, in a move that saw the Mzuzu-based soldiers marching into the quarterfinals of the competition.<\/p>\n
They thrashed the lakeshore side 4-0 at Mzuzu Stadium on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Moyale led 3-0 at half-time through Khuda Muyaba\u2019s strike and Lesman Singini\u2019s double.<\/p>\n
Substitute Winster Phiri completed the rout in the second half – heading in Dan Katunga\u2019s corner-kick.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the season, the Malawi Defence Force side surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at the hands of Be Forward Wanderers and eventually bowed out of the Airtel Top 8 Cup.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery time I think of the Wanderers game, it pains me so much. Those wounds are still fresh and they are giving us the enthusiasm to work harder in other competitions including this cup,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
It was another disappointing performance from Dwangwa United, who have lost seven times in their previous 10 league matches.<\/p>\n
They recently suspended their Coach, MacDonald Mtetemera, due to the team\u2019s poor showing in the TNM Super League.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s Vice Manager, Abdul Silva, cited lack of goals as the main problem rocking his side.<\/p>\n
He however said that the team\u2019s cup exit will help his players to concentrate on league.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have not performed so well today. We had a disorganised defence. Much as we are out of the Carlsberg Cup, all is not lost. We still have to keep fighting to maintain our place in the TNM Super League,\u201d Silva said.<\/p>\n
