{"id":51056,"date":"2017-07-28T09:35:14","date_gmt":"2017-07-28T07:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=51056"},"modified":"2017-07-28T09:35:15","modified_gmt":"2017-07-28T07:35:15","slug":"rainbow-paints-league-sponsorship-at-k6-7-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/07\/28\/rainbow-paints-league-sponsorship-at-k6-7-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Rainbow Paints league sponsorship at K6.7 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) at last breathed a sigh of relief after Rainbow Paints Limited increased this year\u2019s sponsorship from K4 million to K6.7 million.<\/p>\n<p>Breaking the news at Blantyre Youth Centre Saturday at a renewal ceremony of a five-year relationship, Rainbow Paints Sales and Marketing Executive, Jangale Mponda, said Rainbow Paints management felt duty-bound to continue supporting the game having been in partnership with the league since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Mponda said Malawi national netball teams\u2019 exploits at the international stage as well as sound management by the league\u2019s administrators compelled the company to continue bankrolling the contest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to start from the regional leagues to build up for top positions at world level. Success is not a matter of chance but a product of careful calculation of plan, prudent deployment of strategy and zeal to win,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mponda also stated that out of the total sponsorship, about K1.7 million has been allocated to promotional activities.<\/p>\n<p>The league\u2019s Vice Chairperson, Chimwemwe Bakali, promised transparency and accountability in the running of the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOurs is the most productive league in the country. We were the first to send a player overseas for professional netball. The bulk of the players who feature for the senior side are from our league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also produced several administrators who are big names in netball circles like the new Nam President [Matiya]. So there is no doubt that we will run this league professionally. We will account for every penny to keep the integrity of the league safe,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Taking her turn, Matiya challenged the league\u2019s officials to be transparent and accountable in all their transactions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou need to follow rules and regulations so that you are not entangled in issues that can dent the reputation of the league,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Matiya also thanked Sports Writers Association of Malawi (Swam) for partnering the league in its undertakings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSwam secured this sponsorship five years ago and they handed it over to us. It shows that the sports writers\u2019 body has the welfare of sports at heart,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the association\u2019s president Peter Kanjere, Swam representative, Frank Kandu, said the body will continue running the league\u2019s media awards professionally to satisfy all stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>Also present at the gathering were Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) President, Khungekile Matiya, and her General Secretary, Carol Bapu, and also newly-lected Southern Region Netball Committee General Secretary, Charity Mhango.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Southern Region Netball League (SRNL) at last breathed a sigh of relief after Rainbow Paints Limited increased this year\u2019s sponsorship from K4 million to K6.7 million.
