The country\u2019s South Africa-based singer Zani Chiumia, better known as Zani Challe, has been nominated in the African Muzik Magazine Awards (Afrimmas).<\/p>\n
The list of the nominees for the 2017 edition was released recently.<\/p>\n
The event, which is organised by Big A Entertainment, will be held on October 18 at the House of Blues in Dallas, USA.<\/p>\n
The diaspora event will award artists in 27 categories.<\/p>\n
The fourth edition of the Afrimmas has also introduced two new categories \u2013 Best Lusophone artist and Best Francophone artist.<\/p>\n
The categories include Best Male West Africa, Best Female West Africa, Best Male Southern Africa, Best Female Southern Africa and Best African Group.<\/p>\n
Zani Challe has been nominated in the category of Best Newcomer.<\/p>\n
In the category, she is battling it out with Dremo (Nigeria), Medikal (Ghana), Ray Vanny (Tanzania), Preto Show (Angola), Maleek Berry (Nigeria), Mr Leo (Cameroon), Nathi (South Africa), Julz (Ghana), Niniola (Nigeria) and Nsoki (Angola).<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with great pleasure that I let you all know that I have been nominated in the Best Newcomer category in the Afrimma Awards,\u201d said the female musician.<\/p>\n
She has since called on people to vote for her.<\/p>\n

Zanie Challe is well known for her song \u2018Single Tonight\u2019 which she featured Nigerian star Patoranking.<\/p>\n
The singer is the only artist on the list of nominees from Malawi.<\/p>\n
Last year, Zani Challe was also nominated in the Africa Music Awards (Afrima) but she failed to get an award.<\/p>\n
And this time around, she is hoping for good news.<\/p>\n
The singer has also received nominations on the local front including the Urban Music Party (UMP) Awards which have just rebranded to Urban Music People.<\/p>\n
Some of the other well-known artists who have been nominated in different categories include Flavour (Nigeria), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Fally Ipupa (Congo), Wizkid (Nigeria), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa) and Davido (Nigeria).<\/p>\n
The others are Zahara and Lira from South Africa.<\/p>\n
According to the organisers of Afrimmas, the sole purpose of the awards is to cross musical boundaries and celebrate the top African acts and the contributions they have made in relation to African culture and music.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
