The Zambian film titled Chenda which actress Flora Suya starred in, will be premiered in the country in September.<\/p>\n
Suya revealed this yesterday but could not be drawn to say the specific dates.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can confirm to you that Chenda will be premiered in the country in September in the three cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu. But for now I cannot mention the dates,\u201d said the actress, who has widened her net and is also working on her own movie to come out soon.<\/p>\n
The actress has just returned from the re-launch of Chenda in Zambia having first been launched in December last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou may recall that this movie was premiered in Zambia in December but due to other problems which have been there, the film had to be re-premiered again early this month and I attended the colourful event,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Suya said her starring in Chenda <\/em>has given her much more experience and that she managed to work with different people who she didn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n \u201c I want to do more and fly the country\u2019s flag as an actress, starring in Chenda <\/em>gave me a chance to work with actors who I didn\u2019t know but it was all great and I hope Malawians will like the movie once they watch it after the premiere in September,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n The actress also said her starring in Chenda <\/em>has opened a way for Malawi and Zambia to work together in uplifting the creative industry particularly the movie industry which is still in its infancy.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are lots of producers in Zambia who have contacted me and would want me to feature in their movies so my going to Zambia early this month also gave me an opportunity to work on those projects. Again as Zambia and Malawi we want to work together to grow the movie industry,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Owas Ray Mwape, the director\/ co O producer of the film, who also stars in the film, has praised Suya for her talent saying she is a \u201cdiamond in the rough.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I first heard about her from my connections in Malawi, I did a little research and instantly gave her one of the leading roles without auditioning her. It was a huge gamble but later on I realised it was worth it. Flora Suya is a gem, a diamond in the rough. I never thought there was such a talent in Malawi,\u201d Mwape told The Daily Times <\/em>last year.<\/p>\n In the film, Suya plays the role of Chenda, a married woman who fails to bear children which in turn makes her husband to find solace in a concubine. He stops caring for his wife and that leaves her vulnerable. In a turn of events, Chenda also falls for a son of her husband\u2019s friend who visits them for a holiday. The chains of infidelity grow stronger.<\/p>\n The film written by Ivory Van Der Boom and directed by Mwape under Owas Crystal Films also features Zambian singer, Adora Mwape and actor Mingeli Palata.<\/p>\n Suya who has starred in several stage plays performing with among others Nanzikambe Arts, has won the hearts of many having starred in Shemu Joyah\u2019s award winning movies Seasons of a Life <\/em>and The Last Fishing Boat<\/em>.<\/p>\n Meanwhile Suya has welcomed the coming of Zambezi Magic channel which starts airing on DStv channel 160 on Wednesday.
